Puma is selling a Scuderia-licensed jacket for $400
These are popular and sell out after every restock
Resellers have flipped them for up to $1,000, but prices vary
If you know much about F1, you know that fashion can be a big part of the sport. Teams and brands frequently collaborate to produce new designs, and we’ll be looking at one of them today. Scuderia Ferrari linked up with Puma last week to produce a limited run of baby blue racing jackets. While prices have been up and down lately, the resellers who sold early were able to cash out for triple digit profits.
Even if you’re not into motorsport, cars, or you don’t even have a driver’s license, we’re guessing you’ve heard the name “Ferrari” before.
Between making cars for newly divorced men and criminals, Ferrari has been operating a hell of a Formula One team. Scuderia Ferrari, which literally translates as the Ferrari Stables, has been competing and winning since the 50s.
But racing is expensive, and they can only sell so many cars before that Ferrari badge loses some luster. Instead, Ferrari is happy to license out their name and branding for all kinds of exciting marketing opportunities. Consumer electronics, condoms, even a pair of smart glasses from Ray-Ban.
And what we’re looking at today is right up that alley. Puma recently released a Ferrari Scuderia “Team Miami” Varsity Jacket.
What, you thought it’d be red? While Ferrari Red is one thing, the baby blue racing suits of Ferrari Scuderia’s drivers are just as iconic, and those are what this jacket is referencing.
You even get to rock a bunch of advertiser’s patches to complete the look. We’re wondering if Puma got kicked a little extra money for that. If you want one of these jackets, they’ll set you back $400, at least if you can find one. As of right now, they’re sold out everywhere.
About a week ago, a limited number of these jackets restocked through the Culture Kings website. They were listed for the standard MSRP of $400.
We’re not sure how many of these were loaded, but we do know they disappeared fast. Resellers that jumped on the listing in time were able to snag a few before everything was gone.
And within just a few hours of them selling out, they started flipping. At their peak, the Puma Scuderia Team Miami Jackets were reselling for upwards of $1,000 at a time.
Most resellers chose to list them for around $1,500 and accept offers that came close. That said, prices came down pretty fast after the first few hours. Right now they’re trading for about $600. Still, that’s $200 or so in profit, and the early risers were able to net $600 or more.
We would call that “pretty good”. If making hundreds of dollars in easy profit is something you’re interested, you should subscribe to our newsletter to learn about upcoming flips and opportunities.
