Western Margot Robbie Barbie is Reselling Now

It’s been about a week since the release of the Barbie movie, and the reviews are looking good. In fact, Mattel has already implied that more movies based on their intellectual properties are in the works, so it seems like another win for consumerism. Speaking of which, we’ve got yet another piece of Barbie-related merchandise that’s reselling. This time though, it’s an actual Barbie, if you can believe it.

If you’ve been reading our recent articles, you’ll know we’re big fans of the Barbie movie here at RC. We’ve written about several pieces of merchandise produced for the movie, like the AMC popcorn buckets, NYX Flip Phone Mirrors, and Loungefly Handbags. All together, this movie has been lucrative not only for the studio, but resellers as well.

Today we’re looking at possibly the most on-the-nose merchandise produced for the film. A Barbie doll, based on the Barbie movie, which is based on the Barbie doll. How cool is that?

The Western Margot Robbie doll is based on Barbie’s appearance in the film. Pink to the nines, flared denim, and a big-ass hat. Her face is clearly modeled on Robbie’s, and the outfit itself is produced with remarkable detail. Individual stitches can be seen on her clothes and accessories.

Additionally, the doll also comes in a distinct and collectable box based on the film. This is something we’ve seen Mattel do lately for their premium dolls. This particular box features a frame of Margot Robbie from Barbie, which is all obviously pink and saturated.

These were not a recent sale. Actually, they’ve been available since June, and sold for $50. They were a reasonably popular doll, but it wasn’t until the films release that they started to sell out. Now, they’re pretty much impossible to buy at retail.

They make for quite a cool collectible for any fan of the movie or Barbies in general, of which there’s probably a bit of overlap. Considering their newfound popularity and the sudden shortage, it should be no surprise that these Barbie dolls are now reselling.

Western Margot Robbie Barbie Resells

In the days running up to the movie, Western Margot Robbie Barbie dolls started to sell out from all retailers. Normally they can be purchased from Target and Walmart both in-store and online, as well as Mattel’s own website. Following the release, all of these stores have since sold out, and they’ve become a commodity.

Currently, the Western Margot Robbie Barbie doll is reselling for around $100. Since the release of the film that price has bounced around a bit. Early on we saw a few sales at $250, but the price has since leveled off. Still, a $100 sale equates to $50 in profit, which isn’t bad at all.

Additionally, these Barbies were not produced in limited numbers. Most other collectable dolls and toys are sold through Mattel’s Signature Series, which is more exclusive, more expensive, and more limited. In the case of the Western Margot Robbie Barbies, these were essentially just toys on the shelves. They could be purchased without quantity limits and were relatively easy to buy.

These will probably continue to restock and resell for another few weeks. Keep an eye out for them at your local Target and Walmart, and it’s worth checking to see if they restock online. The hype around this movie has been pretty crazy so far, and it seems to be holding up. As long as it does, you can expect to resell these dolls for more than you paid.
