Key Points

  • The Fujifilm X100V is one of the most popular cameras available currently

  • While they retail for around $1,400, they tend to sell out frequently, and are hard to purchase at retail

  • Resellers have been able to pick up cameras and flip them for around $2,000

If you’re out of the loop when it comes to cameras, you may not know much about the Fujifilm X100V. That’s all well and good, but if you want to make some money, this is a camera you’ll want to know more about. Resellers are picking up Fujifilm X100Vs and flipping them for $2,000 or more. Because these cameras are so popular, there are sales recorded every day. As long as you can find one to buy, it’s an easy flip for easy money.

What's the deal with the Fujifilm X100V camera?

The X100V is the latest entry in Fujifilm’s X100 camera series. First unveiled in 2020, the Fujifilm X100V has established itself as one of the most popular cameras available today. It’s especially suited for everyday photography under a wide range of conditions and angles. A photographer carrying the X100V doesn’t need to carry multiple lenses or specialized equipment to take good pictures, and it’s also a good choice for recording video as well.

The Fujifilm X100V is available in two colors: black and silver, and retails for $1,400. Some accessories from previous X100 series cameras are compatible, but there are some changes between models like screen size and lens design.

Fujifilm X100V vs X100F

While the X100V is the current darling of the photography world, it’s predecessors are still the quite popular. The Fujifilm X100F was first released in 2017, and is still widely used.

Compared to the X100F, the Fujifilm X100V has a few key changes. The most notable is the addition of 4K resolution for recording video, along with a new touchscreen. The X100V also features an updated lens and streamlined controls, including a joystick.

How to find a Fujifilm X100V in stock

Because of its widespread popularity among photographers, the Fujifilm X100V is notoriously hard to find for sale. Most online retailers will sell out of their new stock quickly, and buyers will have to wait around for new stock to be loaded or buy from a reseller.

That said, there are a few tricks you can employ to better your chances. If you’re trying to find a Fujifilm X100V for sale at retail, here are some tips:

  • Check BestBuy for the Fujifilm X100V. BestBuy is currently the most reliable way to purchase one of these cameras at retail. Stock is typically loaded online, but available for local pickup. Make sure you have your location set appropriately and check daily.
  • Buy direct from Fujifilm’s website. The X100V restocks infrequently directly from Fujifilm. When this happens, a few thousand cameras will be available to purchase for $1,400.
  • Watch B&H Photo, Adorama, and local stores. Other online retailers will occasionally restock the Fujifilm X100V, but this is somewhat rare (once or twice a month, in limited numbers). You’re best off sticking with the larger retailers.

There are also numerous Amazon listings for the Fujifilm X100V, but these are for above retail price. Amazon sellers are typically asking $1,900-$2,300 for one.

Why does the Fujifilm X100V camera resell?

Because of the widespread popularity of the X100V and the scarce supply, it’s possible to flip one of these cameras for profit. In fact, it’s more or a less a guarantee that if you’re able to pick one up for retail, you can make money reselling this camera.

One thing to note is that it’s a bit hard to resell the Fujifilm X100V used. Used cameras tend to run a bit cheaper then brand new models, so if you’re buying one to resell, we strongly recommend keeping it in the box.

Notice the price difference between used and sealed cameras

Currently, the Fujifilm X100V camera resells for around $2,100 to $2,400. There doesn’t seem to be any variance in price between the colors. Used examples of the X100V tend to resell for around $1,800 to $2,000. Not at all bad considering these are entirely possible to buy at retail, even multiple at a time.
